As I sit here my iPhone says its 82 degrees and it will get hotter all this week into next. With that said, not that I need the weather to tempt me, but I am looking at some of my fave things to buy right now or basically killer summer pieces that are stuck in my head. You will notice that they mostly consist of dresses, which is my complete and utter long term summer lover in clothing form. I long for a little (or midi, I’m not fussed) ruffle dress from Realization Par or Reformation,
When in the Caribbean I never wear sleeves during the day. Mum doesn’t have AC in her house or in her car so the level of perspiration this induces demands anything with maximum ventilation. I made the rare exception on this airy partial sleeve blouse because everything else about it ticks off the boxes and it doesn’t suffocate. The contrasting earrings are for a fun color clash. ps. I’m addicted to this little bag. pps. A new video went live on my YouTube channel on how to
Well here’s a shocker. I made a blog post! Lately I’ve been putting more time into building my YouTube channel and the amount of time it takes me is, let’s just say – unexpected. It’s a whole new learning curve like starting this website was. Hopefully my organization will get better and I’ll resume posting more on here because to be honest, here is where I have had the most meaningful conversations and I miss it even though I’m liking the growth on
Who has (or should I say who doesn’t) have an pair of espadrilles? You already saw these Castaner espadrilles on my snapchat and Instagram stories (karenbritchick). Espadrilles will probably always be my fave shoe of the summer – remember this post about them? I saw these on the Net-A-Porter sale and that was enough of a sign to cave. I’ve come full circle in wearing them since they were my shoe of the summer when growing up in London. I know a lot of you agree that
The one sunglass update for this summer are the white retro plastic frames. They have an oval-like shape with a Kurt Cobain throw back vibe and yes I’m partial to them. ACNE Studios led the way and others have started popping up since. Yes I see you Zara (see my last post) but I also found a lookalike for – wait for it: $5. Yes that is correct. You are very welcome. Here are are the ones that caught my eye in different shapes and colors. Sunday Somewhere Kurt Oval Frame in Blush
When your Mark Cross basket bag prayers get answered… You already know how I feel about Mark Cross bags. I have loved them for years. Miniaturized luggage style bags that have that perfect structured shape to clash with everything year round. No obvious brand labelling with an optional shoulder strap. When I saw that they did a structured straw bag my head exploded and the knife twisted in me. The price was just out of my budget for this season. Then I saw this structured straw bag
Per my snapchat, it took one more long chat with Sassoon’s Creative Director Elaine Mitchell to commit to going natural. Like before, we sat down and had a discussion about black hair care and how I should embrace the curls I already have. At my last visit to Sassoon salon, Elaine cut off the last of the chemical relaxer on the tips of my hair, and shaped it in a way that would help the grow out period. This is a journey all black natural hair girls knows and I’m willing to take it
I’ll get this out of the way first: I smashed my camera and lens. If you saw my Instagram stories then you already know what happened about five minutes into taking these photos. Just imagine: a windy day and a tripod – you know where this is going. I take my own blog photos and the tripod, camera and lens suddenly capsized in a gust of wind and smashed on the ground. I couldn’t run fast enough. My lens is in two pieces and is going to a repair shop on Monday and the
I went back to the Sassoon hair salon a couple of days ago and they always seem to remind me why I cut my hair. I’ve been going there now for a few months since they ‘get’ the: hair is an extension of your style thing. This is also the thinking behind their latest collection UTOPIA). I discussed with my Sassoon hair stylist Elaine Mitchell, the reasons why I’m transitioning out of my hair relaxer and she agreed with me that I should work on maintaining my hair health

This is one jacket that won’t get tossed on the purge it all sale I’m going to do soon. For those who don’t know, which is all of you, we have a basement downstairs where lives the bulk of my wardrobe and about half of it needs to go. Correction: has to go because room is needed for something else (something for the house don’t worry). It’s probably good that I’m being forced to get rid. I mean how many times can I post about this? I’ll list what I

This was on the last day upstate which feels like it was months ago. Hard to believe it was the July fourth weekend…! Tea dresses don’t get talked about much but aren’t they the best friend to old boots or in this case, Chuck Taylors? Common sense says to get rid of the dress because I’ve had it since 2009 (and it’s so girly), but I can’t seem to let it go. Now I’m justifying keeping it because of years worth of memories now attached to it.
This post is about an epiphany that was a long time in the making. Last week I went to the Sassoon hair salon and left with punk-like hair. I shrieked afterwards but the trip reminded me of something more important… Over the past two years, you have gone on a hair journey with me. Growing up, I’ve always had long hair but recently I started to feel like I was stuck in a hair rut. My fedoras became a crutch, hiding me behind hair that I was getting increasingly bored with. When
