Well this pair live up to their word and literally make one! By the way they look a lot bigger in person than they do in these photos. I found these statement earrings from NY & Company two days before coming to St. Lucia. I’m not exactly sure why, but I’ve made it a side mission to collect cool (but not heavy!!!) oversized earrings. They work on short hair and long although the former tends to be seen as ‘fashion forward’ but I just think that on short hair,
Per my snapchat, it took one more long chat with Sassoon’s Creative Director Elaine Mitchell to commit to going natural. Like before, we sat down and had a discussion about black hair care and how I should embrace the curls I already have. At my last visit to Sassoon salon, Elaine cut off the last of the chemical relaxer on the tips of my hair, and shaped it in a way that would help the grow out period. This is a journey all black natural hair girls knows and I’m willing to take it
To be honest I wasn’t much of a shirt fan for years. They reminded me of a school uniform no matter how old I was. Not anymore. Thankfully oversized is a one size fits all. As always, get them in the menswear section and the skies the limit because the shirt is deconstructed. Mismatch the buttoning, keep cuffs open, half tuck the front or wear your shirt half off the shoulder – you get it; anything goes. Above I’m wearing two shirts combined. One is wrapped around my
This blouse ticks all the boxes in the typical ones that I go for: high neck, long sleeves, loose fabric and ruffles. The colour is like a washed out ivory although it comes in dark green too (don’t ask if I have that one). Again, size up one or two to fit slightly oversized. Someone asked me on here to give my review/thoughts on the Chloe Faye and I will very soon now that I’ve had a few weeks to really use it. Side note on the boots, if you get them, the initial stiffness
What did you get up to this weekend? A lot? Nothing? A very special friend is here with me from London so it feels like a slice of home is with me. The above outfit I showed you first on snapchat (karenbritchick) where I am slowly, between that and Instagram stories becoming slightly addicted. The before/after videos of a new wig are on there too. p.s If you order the blouse, it runs small so order up a couple of sizes for slouch. . . . Blouse: H&M (comes in plain white as well).
Did yesterday’s post on 15 velvet bags tempt you? If not then maybe the above H&M dress will. Soon as I saw the price – correction, soon as I saw the dress I was in. Then I saw the price and a week later it was at my front door. It’s got all the things I look for: long sleeves, maxi length, loose cut. Then the frill shoulders? and that winter floral print?? Oh FFS! Let me make apologies now in advance for future posts in this dress (and/or Instagram). Tip: order
Well not really but this Queen bag plus the block heels feels a bit like it. Something about a vintage structured bag that I cannot walk past. Same applies to being in a Barneys or Berdorf too, if it’s structured with a top handle I’m probably trying it on. Busted out the burn out velvet cardi/jacket that’s about what? five years old? I love when a trend comes around and you already have it in your wardrobe… Speaking of velvet, the next post is an epic velvet boot and
All about those super-simple ensembles to get me through the working week. Clean lines, oversized yet sleek silhouettes and key luxe accessories are all part of the formula. Have long been a fan of the clean jumpsuit (as demonstrated again just last week) to achieve such effortless looks, balanced with big outerwear and not much else. The perfect combination in my eyes, with minimal effort required. You can shop my outfit + more similarly easy combos by scrolling through below.Photos by Hannah
This was on the last day upstate which feels like it was months ago. Hard to believe it was the July fourth weekend…! Tea dresses don’t get talked about much but aren’t they the best friend to old boots or in this case, Chuck Taylors? Common sense says to get rid of the dress because I’ve had it since 2009 (and it’s so girly), but I can’t seem to let it go. Now I’m justifying keeping it because of years worth of memories now attached to it.
Last week in a light weight jacket, cargo pants and blouse. You can see the same sandals with jeans in this March post. . . . Blouse: H&M. Jacket: Zara. Similar from Millie, Asos and Topshop. Cargo pants: Zara (old). Sandals: Sigerson Morrison (on sale in suede). Bag: Valentino. Lipstick: MAC Chilli SOURCE: Where Did U Get That - Read entire story here.
We’ve had two dreary weeks of non-stop rain. I love spring storms but after ten days of clouds, you can start to feel a little down in the dumps. When I woke up on Monday to yet another gloomy forecast, I decided to a) put on something other than a grungy old sweater and b) get out of the house and do something fun that would brighten my mood! One of my favorite rainy day hideaways is the cafe at Village Baking Co. My boyfriend and I are pastry fanatics, and we love to bake at home
Vintage is one of my favourite things. Not only is it great for the planet, it’s quite often cheaper than chain stores and best of all it means you’ll be wearing something no one else will be. So the fact that one of my dearest friends is launching a carefully curated vintage store has me pretty darn excited! One Moment will be launching online very soon, but if you’re in Sydney you can get a first look at the amazing pieces at a Pop-Up store in Chippendale. Get there tomorrow
Wearing that giant crochet cardigan over a striped knit. Cardigan seen before in this January post and yes it still feels like something found at a vintage shop. I feel like stripes have a way of working with anything though? More pics on Instagram and catch the rest of me as usual on snapchat – karenbritchick ps. Thank you for your thoughts on yesterday’s bag post. It’s a subject that’s been on my mind since last year! . . . Crochet coat: Zara. Similar from Revolve.
How good is this dress? I’m a huge Christophe Lemaire fan and pieces like this are exactly why. The seer sucker fabric is so nice for this weather and hangs with structure. Such a flattering piece. You can find the dress here! Shoes are Celine from Yoox and bag is Ferragamo. This dress is sold out in certain sizes, you might try here too if you are looking for your size. This dress is an amazing 80s-does-50s piece from one of my favorite designers Jan Barboglio. I have been wearing this so much lately, it makes me so happy! Such amazing detail in such a simple design. Wearing vintage dress (similar vibe here) with a Lagos del Mundo tote, straw boater hat, and Stuart Weitzman heels.
