I’ve always wondered what it would feel like to finally sit down and write this post. The one where I tell you that I’m hanging up my figurative (and literal!) hat with What I Wore. The time has come for me to put this blog to bed, and it gives me a lot of joy to finally do it.This blog has served me in so many ways, but in short - I’m over it. I’ve documented my daily (and lately, weekly or monthly) outfits for over ten years. That’s a lot time! It’s longer than any school I’ve attended, any
WhatIWore: After this week of Halloween and vampy lips, here’s a basic B everyday look! I made this faux shearling jacket last year when I was pregnant and I’ve been playing around with ways to wear it this season. It’s pretty cropped and needs a longer layer underneath, otherwise it feels a little too top heavy. Honestly guys, I’m just feeling a little brain dead lately and can’t think of anything else to write. Hope you have a beautiful weekend! My folks are arriving today and we have lots of
Ta da! Here’s my costume for Halloween this year. I’ve dressed as Frida Kahlo more than once, and I’ve been known to rock a (smaller!) flower crown in summer. My entire costume was made from what I had around the house including a dress I’ve worn here and here with flowers in my hair left over from my front door wreath. I felt like a queen! WhatIWore: Hi guys! Updating y’all with a quick post while we’re in town having breakfast and using wifi! Adam took these photos of me and Bea yesterday while we’re on our annual family cabin/camping trip. It’s her first time here and she’s loving it! When: October 18, 2017What:Shades: Karen WalkerCoat: Pendleton (older style)Sweater: LL Bean (similar!)Jeans: J.Crew (on sale)Boots: LL BeanOn Bea: Columbia Fleece and Fringe MocsThis is more or less my camping uniform - jeans, Bean boots, a
WhatIWore: I finally have my hands on this dress! Between exchanging sizes and shipping to my parent’s house, I finally had a chance to wear it over the weekend. It gives me all the prairie vibes in a good way! (I was alternatively humming Dixie Chicks and Paula Cole while wearing it) There’s so much fabric and it moves so beautifully! I’m excited to layer it with a turtleneck and moto jacket for crisper weather, but on this occasion I just used a skin toned camisole underneath (the neckline is
I gave it a good go, but I’m ready to trade in my platinum blonde for something a little closer to my natural shade. And by natural I mean a lighter brunette and no more gray!! Like all of my hair appointments I’ve pulled together a little inspiration board to show my stylist. Here’s what I’m thinking - but I could use some help!Option one is to keep the length and go in over the light blonde with a darker shade and keep my current cut like the this top set of photos. The other idea I’m playing
WhatIWore: Do all mothers pause on their child’s birthday to wonder how the time flies so quickly? I remember thinking he was such a big boy on his first birthday, but now we’re having full conversations and he’s asking me all of these big questions and he’s such a joy to be around. Of course there’s the average three year old letting loose here and there, but he’s a really such a cool kiddo. We love him so dearly! This is what I wore for a day out and about with my kids! We did a big stroller
WhatIWore: I’m going a little out of order this week with outfit posts - this is what I wore over the weekend to go to the farmer’s market. The embroidered jean jacket has been on my mind for a while, so this is how I thought to wear it for the cool of the morning (see how I wore it for fall here and here). Not much else to say about this outfit other than this dress is one of Adam’s favorites and I love it too! I don’t wear it enough! When: August 12, 2017What:Shades: Karen Walker ‘Super
WhatIWore: Hi! Hello! Hope everyone had a nice weekend! We celebrated my parents’ retirement and Easter and got to see my siblings and aunts and uncles and it was a great time! Now we’re back to everyday life and here’s what I wore: this was absolutely a throw-one-whatever-works kind of morning. I’m wearing pieces from my core closet and a bit of a step up from my athleisure SAHM look. Olive jacket, white tee, black jeans and sneakers! These photos totally surprised me too! When you’ve got the
WhatIWore: Each season I like to start off my wardrobe with some core items that I know I’ll mix and match many ways. I’ve posted about my year round (see below) and winter core closets before, and today I’ll outline what I like on hand for spring! To quickly recap those core building blocks for your closet, they are: Chambray Button Down | Olive Green Utility Jacket | Denim Jacket | Classic Jeans | Striped Tee Shirt | Black Skirt | Black Pants (or Jeans) | Sunglasses | Leather
Who’s had a dose of springlike weather lately? Man! It’s getting me so excited to switch over my closet and start some spring shopping! One trend I’ve picked up on are rainbow brights. They remind me of a scene from SATC when Carrie gets caught in the rain. It’s one of the more memorable looks from the series for me! Rainbows also kind of throw me back to the days of getting a Delia*s catalogue in the mail in the late 90s (they’re still around, in case you were wondering). These modified
WhatIWore: The only red wine in my life lately has been in the form of one of my favorite colors this season - a deep, dark burgundy hue. I wouldn’t call it a trend - the color name might change year to year (remember the Oxblood insanity a few years ago?) but it’s all a slight variation of a rich wine tone. See more of my burgundy infused outfits here. When: September 19, 2016What:Shades: Karen Walker ‘Super Duper’Lipstick: Bite Beauty in ‘Jam’Tee Shirt (regular sizing): ModClothDenim Jacket:
As a little girl, I went through what I can best describe as my “pioneer” phase. I was absolutely, completely obsessed with the nineteenth century. I wore bonnets and bloomers (to school!) and relied on the American Girl and Little House on the Prairie books for guidance into my “old fashioned” life. It all started when I received an American Girl catalogue in the mail. My best guess was that it came in the mid-90s and it was pretty much the only way I spent my allowance for a good five years.
WhatIWore: Overall, I can say with certainty that I’ve had a much better attitude in general about this pregnancy. Maybe it’s knowing what to expect, or having a two year old to chase or just maybe having an easier time with it physically. It’s probably a combination of all of those things which has led to me better self esteem and let me just enjoy the moment so much more than the first time around. That and I’ve been smarter about what to wear this time around and it’s been a big confidence
WhatIWore: Here’s what I wore today to my 24 week checkup at the doctor’s office. I like wearing shoes that can come off quickly (no bare feet on the scales) and I also plan to wear roughly the same thing each time to get an accurate track on weight gain. For me that’s been a tube skirt hiked up over the bump and a tee shirt. I wore the jacket to pull things together.I didn’t plan it this way, but everything I’m wearing here I got at Old Navy at different times. I’ve been wearing the olive green
